NEWSFLASH – DOA FMD Biosecurity and Risk Mitigation Measures at Abattoirs | Regulations

Please take note of the updated FMD Biosecurity and Risk Mitigation at Abattoirs guidelines that were provided by the Directorate of Animal Health  and Veterinary Public Health. In addition, the Department also published Control Measures Relating to Controlled Diseases of Cloven-Hoofed Animals Regulation Number 6319 on 13 June 2025. This relates to control measure  to reduce the risk of spreading controlled animal diseases through the movement of cloven hoofed animals. Clause 3.2. pertaining to the isolation at the land of destination for at least 28 days, does not apply to abattoirs but for which the Declaration of Health as stated in the guidelines and the Red Meat regulations apply.
