The Red Meat Abattoir Association (RMAA) is a representative forum for abattoir owners in South Africa. The mission of the Association is to provide representation and services to the abattoir industry, which will ensure the highest standards of meat safety and quality to the benefit of the industry and the consumer. Training is provided to abattoir personnel as part of the challenge to improve and maintain hygiene and safety standards of meat. The RMAA website gives information on industry news, services offered by the RMAA, legislation relevant to the industry, price and health information and inustry products.

Meat Exporters of South Africa (MESA)
MESA was recently launched as a Section 21 company. Its vision is to ensure that the South African meat product is the preferred brand of premium quality in selected international markets. Mr Manie Booysen, CEO of SAMIC, will manage MESA with four elected directors. MESA will support the Department of Agriculture in the establishment of protocols with selected countries in order to enable the export of meat and meat products to those countries. They also aim to provide timeous information on trends in global meat markets and to identify opportunities for exports. The company will liase with role-players and government on behalf of exporters and represent them in international markets. Promotion of South African meat and meat products on a generic basis in selected international markets will also form a large part of their activities.
